The EVA-01 Premier Edition bag is the long awaited entry into the "Every Day Carry" (EDC) bag arena for RDSW. The bag is heavily based upon the first bag made by Richie Rauscher, the RDSW-01. The EVA-01 shares much in common, including a heavy inspiration from NASA's own A7L Extra-Vehicular Activity (EVA) suits used during the Apollo missions, as well as red and white coloring of the NASA "Worm" logo.
The bag's outer construction is made up 5.0 oz Dyneema, a composite fabric that is 15 times stronger than steel by weight. The EVA-01 even boasts a doubled up base layer for extreme durability. This bag will survive just about any adventure, terrestrial or otherwise.
The hardware is made up of nickel plated pieces, from HK-Hooks and triangular D-rings on the handles and shoulder strap, to the G-hook that secures the outer pocket. The two zippers featured on the bag are both from YKK, and are selected for their quality and durability.
The outside of the bag bears the RDSW initials on a name-tag heavily inspired by the same name-tags the Apollo astronauts wore. Flanking either side of that name-tag are two nylon ribs that wrap around the body of the bag, aiding in weight distribution to ensure that heavy contents won't result in specific weak points, but will be evenly supported all around the body.
The interior of the EVA-01 is made up of quilted batting, customized by myself with contrasting stitching. The batting only offers minimal protection. As a disclaimer, this bag's design is intended to be durable and lightweight, not protective or shock proof.
One side of the interior houses a Dyneema zipper pocket, while the opposite side bears a Dyneema laptop sleeve, with hook and loop securing strap. Below the strap is a unique tag designating the model, manufacturing date, and serial number of that specific bag.
The EVA-01 will ship in a custom RDSW box, wrapped in brown shipping paper for discretion.
